“Minor Hockey Coaches are the backbone of the
sport “
The majority of Minor Hockey
coaches get involved while their children are in the
system and leave coaching when their children move on to
other interests.
Bob was not one of those
coaches. His Minor Hockey coaching tenure began while
still a student at Minto High School.
He taught the basics of the
game long before he had children of his own and
continued coaching after they left the
Minor Hockey system. He
personified what every
Minor Hockey coach should aspire to be.
Some of Bob’s proudest moments
include:
-
Playing his part in
helping children, now adults, reach the pinnacle of the
Minto Sports Wall of Fame
-
Forging lifelong
relationships with children and their families
-
Representing Minto
Minor Hockey at 2 Provincial Championships
-
Winning numerous K of C
Minor Hockey Tournaments
-
Winning the Woodstock
Karnes Tournament
-
Coaching his team in an
International tournament in Orono, Maine
Many of Bob’s players went on
to succeed at higher levels of hockey and life
endeavors. He
provided
them with the basic skills to accomplish their dreams on
and off the ice.
