ED BARNETT

Athlete / Builder (Baseball) 

• Ed was born in Chatham, NB on April 4, 1910 where he played Minor, Junior and Senior Baseball

• In the early 1930's moved to North Bay, ON to pitch but left after only one season due to lack of employment.

• Came to Minto to pitch for the Miramichi Lumber Co and became a star pitcher in the Fredericton and district League

• Upon returning from the Armed Forces duty in the Second World War, Ed began volunteering his time to the development of Little League Baseball in Minto.

• For the next 3 decades he dedicated himself to all aspects of Minor Baseball - coaching, umpiring, fund-raising and ball field maintenance.

• Ed was inducted into the Chatham Sports Wall of Fame in 1983 as a member of the Chatham Shamrocks
